TONE

Campbell used a Charvel Strat with a bridge-position Seymour Duncan humbucking pickup and a Floyd Rose. This was plugged into a Marshall JCM 800 head and a Marshall 4x12 cab with 75-watt Celestions. Campbell pushed the front of the amp with a Boss SD-1 Super Overdrive.

Given the whammy maneuvers in “The Last in Line,” you’ll want a solidbody guitar equipped with a floating trem and a bridge-position humbucker. Some form of Marshall or similar Brit-style tube amp with a fair amount of gain (but not overly saturated) is your ticket, along with an overdrive (e.g., Boss SD-1, Tube Screamer) or even clean boost or EQ to provide extra oomph in the solo.
